K7 Total Security review 2026: cheap and decent, but too many false alarms
K7 Computing, based in Chennai, has sold antivirus in India for more than two decades, and its keys are among the cheapest you'll find at retail. Its 2026 protection results are respectable. The problem is false alarms: it flagged far more safe files as dangerous than most products tested.
Verdict: Decent protection at a low retail price, held back by a high false-alarm count. On a Windows PC, the free Microsoft Defender scored better on both protection and false alarms.

K7's real-world protection of 98.5% matches McAfee and ESET in the same test. Its offline detection of 95.1% is good, well ahead of Microsoft Defender's 89.2% and Kaspersky's 92.1%.
The weakness is false alarms. AV-Comparatives downgraded K7's award because its false-alarm count was above the industry average in the real-world test, and in the March 2026 Malware Protection Test it produced 24 false alarms.
